New Ways to Lose Weight | Wax Impressions

by m.sherman,

It’s no secret that obesity is huge health issue in this country, along with rising numbers of Americans with diabetes and heart disease caused in large part to poor eating habits. Everyone has heard of diet programs including Weight Watchers and Slim-Fast. Thanks to technology, new ways of losing weight are being developed every day. Welcome to the world of diet apps! Here are a few smartphone apps that can help lead you to a healthier life:

  • DailyBurn is a free iPhone app focused on fitness in general. It claims to have a database of over 350,000 different foods and gives a breakdown of nutritional information for foods, such as calories and carbs.
  • Another free iPhone app is Lose It!. This app allows you to create a personalized plan for losing weight, including daily, weekly and other program summary reports on your progress.
  • Another app is ALowGIDiet, offering instructions on certain types of diets. For example a type 1 diabetic who recently started a Low Glycemic Index GI diet may use the app to regulate blood sugar levels. You simply enter the name of the food in the app and it tells you whether it has a low, medium or high GI. This app costs $2.99 in the Apple App Store.
