Statistics on Economy and Demography go Mobile

You’re in  need of statistics on economy or demography for your decision making? Recently apps apperared that will be handy. The U.S Census Bureau released Its first mobile app providing real-time statistics on U.S. Economy. It combines statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

America’s Economy is available now for Android users and is expected be available for Apple smartphone and tablet users in the Apple App Store in the coming weeks. America’s Economy is the first of three planned apps from the Census Bureau that will be made available over the next several months. Each app will be available for Apple and Android smartphones.

In Germany the Bertelsmann foundation released the cross-platform-app “Wegweiser Demographie” (demography guide) based on the information portal “Wegweiser Kommune“ (community guide). From now on, players and decision-makers from politics, local authorities, and citizens can research more comfortably in the demographic data of the well-known open data platform. Adroid or iOS devices are required to use this application.

With corresponding smart phones or tablets exciting data, informative charts, and significant information graphics can be generated for all municipalities in Germany with more than 5,000 inhabitants. With the new offer Bertelsmann foundation especially addresses young people and creates another best practice for the use of open data.
