DoSomething.org Goes Mobile-First to Reach Teens

The Internet is filled with platforms for social change, from Change.org to Indiegogo to We The People.

One of those remarkable platforms, DoSomething.org approaches online activism with a special twist. The community consists entirely of teens, and its team of talented staff are experts on youth mobilization.

The organization operates on Marshall McLuhan’s famous adage: The medium is the message. DoSomething knows that teens’ primary mode of communication is text messaging — since teens text more than they talk — so the non-profit runs campaigns that are mobile first.
