At mashable.com you can find a series of post that deal with the dilemmas of raising childs in a digitized society. These posts can be benefitial for social workers as they are often approached by parents with questions about children and technology. One oft he last posts by Rebecca Levey, co-founder of KidzVuz.com, a video review site by and for tweens, discusses some oft he dillemmas parents run into when they allow their children to acces the internet or to use mobile devices. IN her post Don’t Fear Your Kids’ Technology Use; Embrace it she emphazises that parents stay responsible but should try a postive view on technology.

I don’t ever want to look at tech as the enemy — as this unknowable alien force that can take over my child and ruin her life. I want my daughters to master these skills so they can handle the responsibility that comes with modern technology, and always know that they don’t have to hide what’s going on.

In her posts she shares some handy thoughts. In addition to her tipps you may also remember the possibility to sign a contract with your child that explain in detail how to behave with internet and mobile devices.
