Social Network Use by Teens – Tumblr or Facebook or …? (Part II)

Yesterday we’ve been looking at the use of social networks by teens. Starting with the idea that it could be wise to know which Social Networks Teens use if you want meet them in their natural 21st century habitat. Based on the survey by Garry Tan we saw a neck and neck race by Facebook and Tumblr. Today I’ve been coming across another research that shows a different picture.Facebook Still Reigns Supreme With Teens, But Social Media Interest Dwindling | TechCrunch

Now it seems that Tumblr is far off. Why this? In this study by Piper Jaffray 5,200 teens were asked what the most important social media site is. Only one answer could be chosen. In the study by Garry Tan it was asked for the usage of the network (not the site) and multiple answers could be chosen.

Hence there is no contradiction in the surveys. But which network would you choose now if you want to reach out to teens?  Facebook or Tumblr or … InstagramWanelo, Vine, Snapchat, Kik, 4chan, pheed …?
