Good Apps for Children – Chriteria Database and Live Presentation [VIDEO]

What are the criteria for good apps for children and which apps fulfil these? This is the question that was worked on in an open online course offered by the German Media Literacy Lab (MLAB) in June and July. More than 250 participants discussed criteria and apps in 42 groups. Although the main work was done in German the criteria are also available in English and can be beneficial for those who work with children and digital technology or those that develop apps for children. The criteria can be found on the wiki of the project.

The following video shows a discussion of the criteria and the database by members of the project and experts from across Europe. Friederike Siller and the MLAB-Team are joined by:

The video shows the presentation of the outcome of MLAB Course #1 “Good Apps for Children”, the set of criteria to evaluate children’s apps and the Database (available in English as well) with children’s app reviews. Furthermore it shows the expert’s opinion on current practices, further developments, risks and chances around children and apps and their international perspective about innovative projects / discussions in their countries.
